Is Your Facility’s Website in Compliance with Google’s COVID-19 Update?

If not, this can negatively impact your facility.

Google is now requiring all medical facilities, including assisted living and senior living facilities, to utilize medical schema markup on their websites. This announcement is a direct result of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.

Websites that are not in compliance run the risk of not appearing in relevant Google searches.

What is schema markup?

Schema is a piece of “structured data” that is placed on the backend of a website, relaying pertinent information about a business so that search engines like Google can better understand a site’s content and how it relates to the consumer’s search.

A facility’s business hours should be updated using schema markup, as well as Google My Business (GMB). Schema can also be used for special announcements like quarantine guidelines or event cancellations.
